Welcome to the mission of the San Juan Capistrano Docent Society! At the heart of our community is a deep desire to bring the history and heritage of San Juan Capistrano alive. As a volunteer-run organization with over four decades of service, we dedicate ourselves to educating visitors, leading guided tours of historic adobes, and preserving the rich cultural tapestry of our region.

What we do:

• We offer insightful tours of the historic adobes in San Juan Capistrano, led by trained docents. Adobe tours are available upon request at 10:00 am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please email info@sjcdocentsociety.org for a reservation or call 949-551-1914.

• Our volunteers don the traditional red, black and white outfits along with iconic Spanish-style hats, tying us to the local heritage in both dress and spirit. 

• We strive to present living history — the stories of the people who lived here, the homes they inhabited, and the legacy they passed on.

• We invite you to join us in discovering the hidden gems of our town, unlocking the past one adobe at a time.
